Synopsis: SunOS 5.9: Kernel Patch
Date: Jan/11/2007

Install Requirements: After installing this patch on an active boot environment, the system will be in a potentially inconsistent state until a reconfigure reboot is performed. Unless otherwise specified in the Special Install Instructions below, it is normally safe to apply further patches prior to initiating the reboot due to the relatively small footprint of the patch utilities. Normal operations must not be resumed until after the reconfigure reboot is performed.
Use Single User Mode (run level S) when installing this patch on an active boot environment. An alternative may be specified in the Special Install Instructions.

NOTE 19: The fixes for 4836824 (fssnap should support file systems of greater
than 1 TB) and 4935907 (fssnap(1M) should not allow specification of
a special device as a backing store) introduce changes to the way
that fssnap_ufs manipulates backing-store files. Two of these changes,
explained below, will cause the behavior of fssnap_ufs to contradict
the description given in the "backing-store" subsection of the
fssnap_ufs(1M) man page. As fssnap_ufs is the only supported
FSType-specific "back end" to fssnap(1M), these changes are relevant
         to all users of fssnap.

         1. The man page describes the use of a backing-store that is a single
regular file. With this patch, the backing-store may instead be
            split across multiple regular files.

         2. The man page states that when specifying "backing-store=path",
path must exist. With this patch, it is an error if path exists
and is not a directory. If path is a directory, that directory
is used to contain backing-store files. If path does not exist
it is used as a stem from which to generate the names of the
backing-store files; for example, if path is "/var/tmp/foo"
then backing-store files will be created in /var/tmp/ and their
names will all begin with "foo".

NOTE: The list of 'patches required with this patch' (above) has been
modified from the list specified at patch creation time. The reason for
the modification is that one or more of the required patches was
either never released or withdrawn after its release. The following
