The following example installs a patch to a standalone machine:
 
       example# patchadd /var/spool/patch/123456-07
 
The following example removes a patch from a standalone system:
 
       example# patchrm 123456-07
 
For additional examples please see the appropriate man pages. Any
other special or non-generic installation instructions should be
described below as special instructions.

NOTE 1:  After applying the patch logout and login for the patch to take effect.
 
NOTE 2:  For the changes for BugId 6234855 (shared-mime-info + l10n needed for
         StarOffice 8 file extensions) to take effect, please do the following:
 
            - login as root
            - run "update-mime-database /usr/share/mime"
            - logout and login
 
NOTE 3:  To get the complete fix for BugId's 6200485 (cannot delete contents
         of floppy/ZIP disk) and 6262830 (Nautilus security warning for
         StarOffice 7 Templates), please also install the following patch:

NOTE 4:  To get the complete fix for BugId 6179500 (ACLs are not shown in
         Nautilus), please also install the following patch:

NOTE 5:  For BugId 6821951 (gnome-vfs-daemon stats /etc/vfstab and /etc/mnttab
         every 3 seconds), the fix allows tuning the polling interval through
         setting a gconf key /desktop/gnome/gnome_vfs_mount_poll_interval to
         values in seconds.  When the value is not set, it defaults to 3s
         which should be a sensible value for most desktops. Only in servers
         with multiple users logged in, increasing this interval has an effect
         by reducing CPU consumption of multiple gnome-vfs-daemons.
 
         To set an interval for a specific user alone, log in as that user
         and execute:
 
         gconftool-2 -s -t i /desktop/gnome/gnome_vfs_mount_poll_interval <interval>
 
         To set an interval system-wide, ensure all the other users are
         logged out and execute as root:
 
         gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults -s -t i /desktop/gnome/gnome_vfs_mount_poll_interval <value_in_seconds>
 
         Note that increasing this interval leads to proportional delays in
         updating information about automounted removable media and network
         folders in GNOME components like Nautilus.
